Satish Dhawan Space Centre in the spaceport of Sriharikota is all set to launch Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle to put into orbit seven satellites on February 25. The 23rd PSLV mission of Indian Space Research Organisation
(ISRO) named PSLV-C20 would put the 400 kg Indo-French satellite and six others which include two each from Canada and Austria, one each from Denmark and the United Kingdom.
According to the sources, the rehearsal launched all the seven satellites successfully at Sriharikota on February 23 at 6 am which will start the 59-hour countdown to the actual launch. The Launch Authorisation Board has also cleared the launch schedule which was decided on February 25 at 5:56 PM from the launch pad of Sriharikota.
This launch is said to be witnessed by President Pranab Mukherjee himself from the launch centre along with Kiran Kumar Reddy, Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh.
S. Ramakrishnan, Director, Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre, Thiruvananthapuram, said that instead of the regular countdown of 48 hour, this time it will be of 59 hours and was quoted as saying, "Since the launch will take place in the evening, there will be continuous operations for two nights and we would like to give breaks to our personnel. So there will be a longer countdown".
